E-Way Bill 2.0 Portal: Ensuring seamless operations for Taxpayers and Transporters from 1 July 2025

GSTN will launch the new E-Way Bill 2.0 portal (https://ewaybill2.gst.gov.in/) on 1 July 2025 to ensure smooth goods movement even if one portal is down. Here is a brief update in simple language:

From 1 July, two portals will run side by side:

  • Real-time sync: Any E-Way Bill 2.0 Portal created, updated, or extended on one portal appears on the other within seconds.
  • Same login: Use your existing GST credentials; no new user ID or password is needed.
  • Key operations: Generate, extend validity, update transporter or vehicle details, and print bills on either portal.
  • APIs & testing: Software integrations can call APIs on both portals. A sandbox environment is available to test before go-live.
  • Fallback access: If Portal 1 is under maintenance or faces issues, switch to Portal 2 immediately without losing data or interrupting operations.

The following additional services will be available on the E-Way Bill 2.0 portal:

  • Generation of E-Way Bill based on Part-A details entered by the supplier
  • Generation of Consolidated E-Way Bills
  • Extension of validity of E-Way Bills
  • Update of transporter details
  • Retrieval of consolidated E-Way Bills

Benefits:

  • Business continuity: No single-point failure; operations keep running even during downtime.
  • Efficiency: Faster response and less waiting during peak times.
  • Flexibility: Choose the portal with lower load when needed.
  • Preparation: Before 1 July, bookmark both URLs and test login and API calls. Inform teams about dual-portal use.
